Day 2 - Part Two

    • how the placement has further inspired them to study the subject
    • what the placement has taught them about the subject that they have applied to study (this could be specific knowledge or more general insight)
    • how the placement has helped to demonstrate in practice what they have learnt previously (or alternatively how the placement has made them question what has previously been learnt!)
    • how the placement has further inspired them to seek a long-term career within the subject
    • how their abilities or previous experience fit with the demands of a career related to the subject.

    Day Two:

    AM

This morning I met with Bruno Fuharino. Bruno is an exquisite graphic designer,  working primarily in the print department with Gemma and her team. He showed me through how he turns flat 2D images into eye catching 3D images. (Insert Example of before and after). He then went on to explain that the 3D images can be used as moving image as well as static, so they can be used as a motion graphic online or at a live event.  This makes Bruno’s slightly simpler as sometimes he can use previous images sometimes and chop and change them to the appropriate style. Another part of Bruno’s job is to cut out on photoshop to allow images to go on to any background, these can also be animated. (Insert example of cut out image)

    PM

Later on in the day I was lucky enough to meet with the poker stars website brand manager. Simon Lavin and his web team to put it broadly have to decide what is the correct content and ‘what is the message?’ along with, how the content is navigated (User Journey).

He explained how important it was to have linear pages along with the heirechy. Simon and his team know how to make the most out of the brand and how to encouprotae pokerstars branding guidelines with in. Simon explains the designers then work with SEO’s and UX/UE departments to get the final product. He tells me about the complications of having to change domain suffixes for each country or continuity due to regulations.

Simon stresses about the SEO’s job and if you are not a mobile site these days, Google puts you at the bottom of the list. Due to this, the team are currently trying to get the mobile compatible site up as soon as possible. I was shown wire frames and ideas. (Insert Wireframe here)

Images where another topic we spoke. I found it fascinating is that rather than images being smaller for mobiles than websites they where actually larger.

Here is what we came up with as a new idea rather than the other system.
