Day 7 - Social Media

  • how the placement has further inspired them to study the subject
  • what the placement has taught them about the subject that they have applied to study (this could be specific knowledge or more general insight)
  • how the placement has helped to demonstrate in practice what they have learnt previously (or alternatively how the placement has made them question what has previously been learnt!)
  • how the placement has further inspired them to seek a long-term career within the subject
  • how their abilities or previous experience fit with the demands of a career related to the subject.
Social Media Department
pokerstars.com

Today I went to the social media department. There are 5 in the team and over 120 Channels they look after. These include Facebook (different pages to different places due to restrictions), Twitch, Instagram, Twitter, Pintrest, etc.

The main restrictions to the different pages in different nations are the fact you cant promote gambling with real money. For example Spain you are allowed to mention money but in Portugal you cant.

As part of the team two of them come up with the stratagy to new platforms and the pro's and con's. For example pintrest never really kicked off.

They also manage the content and come up with the posts and also competitions to interact with followers.

They also answer any questions or queries posted by social media users.

Here is my project set by the team

Hey Alice

So your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to look at our main central social media accounts and evaluate the content from a non-poker player’s perspective.

The questions to ask yourself are:

·         How accessible is this content to someone who isn’t very familiar with the basics of the game?
·         Would I share this content with my friends? If so/if not why?
·         What content would you like to see more of/less of on our pages?

Here are our main central pages:

http://www.twitch.tv/pokerstars/profile (you can find our streams under ‘past broadcasts’)

Give me a shout if you have any questions

Thanks

Farhan Ahmed
